Open Masjid Day : 15th December, 2012
@ Civil Station Masjid, Kakkanad
The world is fast turning into a global village; everything is getting smaller, and closer. We are increasingly exposed to persons from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. More cities are becoming cosmopolitan, with a great deal of exposure to various cultural and religious.
However, we are often curious to know the traditions, customs and lifestyles of those we come in contact with us in our day to day life. Lack of knowledge and understanding, leads to prejudices. In addition to this, Media prejudices are often seen targeting unaware or innocent civilians.
Cultural communities and faith groups have to take responsibility for eradicating others’ misconception s on their commitments, motives and functioning. It is needed to make a factual presentation of their standpoint in the most suitable and appropriate manner. There is also an increasing need of pioneering awareness and educational programs about differences and diversity.
In this context, AMITY Forum has conducted an ‘Open Masjid Day’ on 15th of December 2012 at Civil Station Masjid Kakkanad.
We invited people of all faiths and traditions including those who are still searching for one, to take this opportunity and visit a Masjid(mosque),and make new friends.
Open Masjid Day has designed to foster healthy and meaningful relationships and ensure a harmonized society. Around 35+ Participants have been attended the program. They also joined in an interactive discussion about Islamic Prayer, Masjid, Teaching of Islam and its relevance in present scenarios.
